FAQ
Is OHIP covered?
Tests like ESR, CBC, and B12 are OHIP-covered when there is clinical indication. hsCRP and homocysteine may be self-pay.
What causes elevated hsCRP?
hsCRP rises with infection, chronic inflammation, cardiovascular disease, obesity, and autoimmune conditions. Your NP will interpret it in context of your full panel.
Can diet reduce inflammation markers?
Yes. Anti-inflammatory diets rich in omega-3s, fiber, and antioxidants can lower hsCRP and homocysteine over time. Your MD may include dietary guidance in your result notes.
Do I need to fast?
Fasting is not required but is recommended for lipase and ferritin accuracy. Water is always fine.
