FAQ
Is OHIP covered?
The
Is OHIP covered?
The $49 clinic.ca fee covers the NP consult and Rx management. Ozempic/Wegovy is not currently covered by OHIP for weight loss (only diabetes). Mounjaro coverage varies. Many patients pay OOP ($200–$500/month) or have private insurance.
Am I eligible for GLP-1 therapy?
Canadian guidelines support GLP-1 for BMI ≥30, or BMI ≥27 with a weight-related comorbidity (type 2 diabetes, hypertension, sleep apnea, dyslipidemia). Your NP will assess eligibility during intake.
What is the difference between Ozempic, Wegovy, and Mounjaro?
Ozempic (semaglutide 0.5–2mg) is approved for diabetes. Wegovy (semaglutide 2.4mg) is approved specifically for weight loss. Mounjaro (tirzepatide) targets both GLP-1 and GIP receptors for stronger weight loss effect. Your NP will recommend the best option.
What side effects should I expect?
Nausea, reduced appetite, and occasional vomiting are common, especially when starting. These typically improve as your body adjusts. Your NP will guide you through dose escalation.
