An Ontario NP reviews your intake

A CNO-registered nurse practitioner reviews your information asynchronously. No video call needed.

3

Your document is issued

4

Lab processes your sample

LifeLabs or Dynacare processes your sample and shares results directly with you, typically in 3–5 business days. clinic.ca does not review or interpret results. Questions about your results? Bring them to your family doctor or a walk-in clinic.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know before requesting a service.

Getting started
Do I need a family doctor to use clinic.ca?
No. clinic.ca is a direct-access platform. You don't need a GP referral — our licensed nurse practitioners assess your intake and issue lab requisitions, prescriptions, or referrals directly.
Is clinic.ca available outside Ontario?
Currently Ontario only. Our nurse practitioners are CNO-registered and our lab network (LifeLabs & Dynacare) operates in Ontario. Provincial expansion is planned.
How long does the whole process take?
Intake takes under 5 minutes. The NP review happens within 24 hours. For blood work, lab results come back within 24–48 hours after your lab visit. Prescriptions and referrals are usually issued the same day your request is reviewed.
Do all services require a lab visit?
No. Prescription renewals, referral letters, sick notes, and treatments like UTI/BV are handled entirely online — no lab visit needed. Only blood work and diagnostic panels require a visit to LifeLabs or Dynacare.
Pricing & OHIP
Is the $49 service fee covered by OHIP?
No. The service fee is private-pay and covers the nurse practitioner's review of your intake. However, many lab tests at LifeLabs are OHIP-covered when there is clinical indication, meaning you pay $0 at the lab for the base panel.
What if the NP rejects my request?
You receive a full refund of the $49 service fee. The NP has full authority to reject any request based on clinical judgment — approval is not guaranteed.
Are there any hidden costs?
No. The $49 service fee is flat. Any lab or pharmacy costs are shown upfront during checkout so you know exactly what you'll pay at each step before you commit.
Results & follow-up
What if my results are abnormal?
clinic.ca is a one-way document delivery service — we do not review or interpret your lab results. LifeLabs or Dynacare will share your results directly with you. Bring them to your family doctor or a walk-in clinic for interpretation. If a lab flags a critical result directly to the ordering NP, we'll reach out to notify you. For emergencies, always call 911.
Where do I see my results?
Documents from clinic.ca (lab requisitions, prescriptions, referral letters, medical notes) are delivered to your TELUS Health Patient Portal. Blood test results come directly from LifeLabs or Dynacare — usually via their own patient portal or email, not through clinic.ca. Prescriptions are sent to your chosen pharmacy. Referrals are sent to the specialty clinic with a copy to you.
Can I message my NP after my request?
No. clinic.ca is a one-way document delivery service — the transaction ends when your document (lab req, prescription, referral, or note) is delivered. For ongoing care, clinical questions, or result interpretation, please see your family doctor or a walk-in clinic. If you need to request an additional document, simply start a new request on clinic.ca.
Privacy & safety
Is my information private?
Yes. clinic.ca is PHIPA-compliant. Your data is stored on Canadian servers, encrypted, and never shared with third parties without your consent. See our Privacy Policy.
What if I'm having a medical emergency?
clinic.ca is not for medical emergencies. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911. For mental health crisis, call or text 9-8-8. Our service is for routine, non-urgent healthcare only.
Are clinic.ca nurse practitioners licensed?
Yes. All clinic.ca NPs are registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario in the Extended Class. Ontario NPs are legally authorized to order lab tests, prescribe medications including controlled substances, diagnose illnesses, and refer patients to specialists.
