FAQ
Is OHIP covered?
The $89 clinic.ca fee covers the NP assessment, baseline lab requisition, and PrEP prescription. Medication cost at pharmacy depends on your drug plan — many Ontario plans cover PrEP under the Ontario Drug Benefit program.
Do I need a prior exam?
No physical exam is required for most contraceptive methods via clinic.ca. Your NP reviews your intake for contraindications (e.g. migraine with aura, clotting history).
Can I get emergency contraception (Plan B)?
Yes. Emergency contraception can be requested via clinic.ca when time-sensitive. Note: local pharmacies also dispense Plan B without a prescription in Ontario.
How long until I receive my prescription?
Most prescriptions are issued within 15–30 minutes during business hours and sent directly to your pharmacy via electronic prescription.
clinic.ca is staffed by Nurse Practitioners (NPs) registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario in the Extended Class. Ontario NPs are legally authorized to order laboratory tests, prescribe medications including controlled substances, diagnose illnesses, and refer patients to specialists. If a specific recipient (employer, insurance plan, or specialist office) requires a physician signature on your document, contact us and we will re-issue through a consulting physician at no additional cost or refund your fee in full.
