FAQ
Is OHIP covered?
The Total Health Panel includes multiple markers not on the Ontario Schedule of Benefits (ApoB, Lp(a), IGF-1, hsCRP, HOMA-IR, fasting insulin, free testosterone, SHBG, DHEA-S, cortisol, estradiol, progesterone, prolactin, and others). Most of this panel is self-pay at the lab. Layer 1 markers (CBC, lipids, liver, kidney, TSH, free T4, HbA1c, vitamin D, B12, ferritin, folate, magnesium) may be OHIP-covered if you have a clinical indication.
Do I need to fast?
Yes, 10–12 hours fasting is required for accurate glucose, insulin, lipid, and IGF-1 results. Water is fine during the fast.
Why 66 biomarkers specifically?
The 8-pillar structure and biomarker selection mirror the framework used by leading preventive medicine researchers and wellness tracking platforms — covering metabolism, hormones, fitness, nutrients, inflammation, cardiovascular health, sleep/recovery, and cognition. It's the most comprehensive panel clinic.ca offers.
Can I use these results with my WHOOP, Oura, Garmin, or other health app?
Yes. This panel was designed specifically to cover the biomarker framework used by leading wearable platforms like WHOOP Advanced Labs (65+ biomarkers across metabolism, hormones, fitness, nutrients, inflammation, cardiovascular, sleep, and cognition). After your results are ready, you'll receive a standard PDF you can upload directly to the WHOOP app, Oura, Garmin Connect, Apple Health, or any platform that accepts biomarker uploads. clinic.ca is a Canadian blood-draw service — we order the tests through LifeLabs, an NP reviews them, and you own the results to use wherever you want.
How long until my lab requisition arrives?
Your lab report includes reference ranges; clinic.ca does not interpret results within 24–48 hours of the lab receiving your sample. You'll receive your lab requisition. After your blood draw, LifeLabs delivers results directly to you. clinic.ca is not involved in result review or interpretation — bring your results to your family doctor or a wellness clinic if you want them interpreted.
How often should I repeat this panel?
Annually is recommended for baseline health tracking. If you're actively working on a specific biomarker (lowering ApoB, raising vitamin D, reducing inflammation), repeat testing every 3–6 months helps you see progress.
clinic.ca is staffed by Nurse Practitioners (NPs) registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario in the Extended Class. Ontario NPs are legally authorized to order laboratory tests, prescribe medications including controlled substances, diagnose illnesses, and refer patients to specialists. If a specific recipient (employer, insurance plan, or specialist office) requires a physician signature on your document, contact us and we will re-issue through a consulting physician at no additional cost or refund your fee in full.
