FAQ
Is OHIP covered?
Metabolic panels are often covered when there is clinical indication such as diabetes monitoring, obesity, or hypertension. Wellness-only requests are typically self-pay.
Do I need to fast?
Yes. Fasting 10–12 hours is essential for accurate HbA1c, fasting insulin, glucose, and lipid results.
What is HOMA-IR?
HOMA-IR is a calculated score from fasting glucose and insulin that estimates how insulin-resistant you are. Higher scores indicate greater resistance.
What if my HbA1c is elevated?
Your NP will review the result and may recommend diabetes screening follow-up, lifestyle changes, or referral to an endocrinologist.
