FAQ
Will my employer accept this?
Most Canadian employers accept MD-signed certificates. The note is on clinic.ca letterhead with the MD's full name and CPSO registration number — the standard format employers and HR departments recognise.
How long does it take?
Usually within 2 hours during business hours (Mon–Fri, 8am–8pm). Often faster. Certificates are not processed overnight or on weekends unless specified.
Can you backdate the certificate?
The certificate reflects the dates you report during intake. MDs cannot certify clinical incapacity on dates they did not assess — however you can report that your illness began on a specific date and the MD will document this accurately.
Is this OHIP-covered?
No — insurance authorization forms are an administrative service and are not covered by OHIP. The $89 fee is private-pay.
What if my employer requests more detail?
Contact us via your portal. Your MD can amend the certificate with additional clinical detail or provide a supplementary letter — at no extra charge for the first amendment.
Can I get a note for a family member?
The intake must be completed by the patient — each certificate covers one individual. Complete a separate intake for a family member if needed.
