FAQ
Is OHIP covered?
CBC, TSH, glucose, and liver/kidney panels are OHIP-covered with clinical indication. Testosterone, PSA, and SHBG may be covered if symptoms suggest hypogonadism or prostate concern. Wellness panels are typically self-pay.
When should I draw testosterone?
Testosterone is best drawn in the morning (8–10am) when levels are naturally at their highest for the most accurate result.
At what age should men start checking PSA?
Canadian guidelines recommend discussing PSA screening starting at age 50, or age 40–45 for men with family history of prostate cancer or African descent.
Do I need to fast?
Yes. Fasting 10–12 hours is required for accurate lipid, glucose, and metabolic results. Testosterone can be drawn fasting or non-fasting.
