FAQ
Is OHIP covered?
Testosterone testing is OHIP-covered when there are documented symptoms of hypogonadism (low energy, low libido, mood changes, erectile dysfunction). Wellness panels are self-pay.
What time should I draw blood?
Testosterone peaks between 8–10am. Always draw in the morning for baseline testing or TRT monitoring.
What counts as low testosterone?
The clinical threshold is typically <300 ng/dL (10.4 nmol/L) total testosterone with symptoms. Free testosterone below 9 pg/mL is also clinically significant.
What if my LH/FSH is low with low testosterone?
This suggests secondary hypogonadism (pituitary origin) vs primary testicular failure if LH/FSH is high. Your NP will interpret the pattern and advise on next steps.
