About insurance acceptance
Ontario Nurse Practitioners are legally authorized to prescribe and recommend treatment. Most private insurance carriers and extended health benefit plans accept NP-signed prescriptions. Some plans have carrier-specific rules that require physician signatures.
Our guarantee: Before purchasing, check with your insurance provider about their acceptance of NP-signed documents. If your insurer rejects this document, contact us within 14 days and we will either re-issue it through a consulting physician at no additional cost, or refund your fee in full.
📄 No additional costs. This is a document-only service — your completed massage therapy prescription will be delivered to your clinic.ca portal as a PDF. There are no lab fees, pharmacy costs, or follow-up charges.

FAQ
Will my employer accept this?
Most Canadian employers accept MD-signed certificates. The note is on clinic.ca letterhead with the NP's full name and CNO registration number — the standard format employers and HR departments recognise.
How long does it take?
Usually within 2 hours during business hours (Mon–Fri, 8am–8pm). Often faster. Certificates are not processed overnight or on weekends unless specified.
Can you backdate the certificate?
The certificate reflects the dates you report during intake. MDs cannot certify clinical incapacity on dates they did not assess — however you can report that your illness began on a specific date and the NP will document this accurately.
Is this OHIP-covered?
No — Massage prescriptions are an administrative service. The $49 fee covers MD assessment and prescription issuance.
What if my employer requests more detail?
Contact us via your portal. Your MD can amend the certificate with additional clinical detail or provide a supplementary letter — at no extra charge for the first amendment.
Can I get a note for a family member?
The intake must be completed by the patient — each certificate covers one individual. Complete a separate intake for a family member if needed.
clinic.ca is staffed by Nurse Practitioners (NPs) registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario in the Extended Class. Ontario NPs are legally authorized to order laboratory tests, prescribe medications including controlled substances, diagnose illnesses, and refer patients to specialists. If a specific recipient (employer, insurance plan, or specialist office) requires a physician signature on your document, contact us and we will re-issue through a consulting physician at no additional cost or refund your fee in full.
